Take a close look at the Orangutan. He is very much like you and me. Eyes full of expression, fingers and hands that resemble a human's; an intelligent primate that is one of man's closest relatives in the animal world.

Once, these beautiful apes roamed the area between Southern China to the island of Java. Today, this endangered species is only found in the tropical forests of Borneo and Sumatra.

The majority of wild orangutans do not live in forest reserves but in unprotected areas that are fragmented, degraded and prone to further exploitation.

The orangutans need our help. And they need it fast.

Habitat loss is the main threat to the species and a concerted effort to preserve the remaining primary forests is urgently required. For this reason, BOH believes that the Orangutan conservation needs urgent attention. BOH hopes that others will also realise the importance to support this worthwhile project.
